Get Some Info On Homeowners Insurance And Other Types Of Property Insurance
If you own a real estate property than you need to know about home owners insurance and other types of insurance you will need to protect your property and your investment.
Homeowners insurance
If you have a mortgage on your home, then you have to obtain some level of homeowners insurance coverage, besides, the mortgage lender requires that you have homeowners insurance or they will insure it for you... trust me you don't want that!
Homeowners Insurance Tips
- Make sure that the amount of coverage that you have will adequately protect you for all possible losses.
- Ask your homeowners insurance agent if you have "replacement cost" coverage on your personal property
- If you live in california for example, make sure you are covered for earthquake damage.
- If doesn't hurt to ask!... So ask!
Flood insurance
I live in Florida so flood insurance is a must for me.
I should also let you know that your homeowners insurance policy does not provide coverage for flood damage. You have to get a separate insurance policy for flood insurance.
Flood Insurance Alert!
DO NOT wait until there is a flood alert in your area to purchase flood insurance. in most cases, your flood insurance policy will not take effect until 30 days after you purchase flood insurance. If there is a news announcement that your area will be flooded and you didn't have Flood coverage, you're screwed.
