There are lots of opposing views on Chinese Drywall.
Most of them do have very valid points, including history, places, causes and effects.
Some do offer grants, tax deductions and even financial relief.
Considering that you are already buying the apt. for a pittance and full disclosure was made to you before purchasing, I am not sure of how much of a legal recourse you may have in the future.
But, if you purchased the property, the land cost alone should be more than the purchased price.
This is still a bargain.
Keep in mind that you may have to repair your electrical, plumbing and extensive cleaning up after the removal of the drywall.
This will be a thorough and special cleaning.
It seems like the average company charges USD32 per square footage.
I am not sure how much of the "problem" is real and how much of it is just plain doing business in USA as the Chinese drywall is in direct competition with USA made drywall...
I have been in China on numerous occasions and have stayed with locals for months at a time and I have yet to develop a symptom directly relatee to Chinese drywall.
Your ceiling supposedly could also be infected.
