I once saw a report on ABC TV re a US Real Estate Developer that subcontracted with a Chinese company that made the dry wall. The issue was that those new homes had a strong stinch emited by the chinese dry walls (sheetrocks), especially when it rained.
Those homes were being sold for a bundle unbeknown to the new buyers that the chinese dry walls were made with environmentalyy unsafe, very cheap, contaminated and asbestos ridden materials (sub-standard or much lower grade compared to US made building materials
China happens to be a country where laws and regulations regarding environmental hazzards are not really enforced because they are in direct conflict with their economic expansion.
That is why even some kids toys are sometimes deemed unsafe here in the US

There was lawsuit against that builder, who in turn sued the chinese company.

DANGER!
You need a real estate attorney to protect your interests, and it is not that expensive.
You should hire an engineer for the inspection, and not a home inspector with a few months apprenticeship.
You should be willing to spend on his/her expertise only if you must have this condo, and you can go after the engineer later.
The engineer, and lawyer have malpractice insurance.
They also have deep pockets, and you can always collect from them in the future.
I have to remind you that it is a buyer market, and you do not have to grab the first place.
I would be extremely careful with this transaction, and this 'Chinese Drywall" business.
It will ruin you financially, and destroy your health.
It is very dangerous, and you will lose all your investment.
You will owe the bank, and have a mortgage.
You will have to rent a place to live, because the CD will make you sick. I suggest that you forget about this property, and watch out for the next one. Your lawyer will have the sellers sign a contract, and they will be held liable if they lie. The attorney will be responsible for his mistakes, and you can go after him/her. You will have a judgment, but might never be able to collect any money.

yes my friend i hear a little about chinese drywall, from what i heard that could make you sick, their are couple people sue for chinese drywall make them sick, you becareful my friend life is so precieus.

Woody, I don't really know much about Chinese Drywall, the only thing that I know is that the wall may cause some types of flu like or athsma symptoms.
My house was built in 2006, I am still looking for someone to identify the wall for me because I start seing some signs which I don't really like. I wish you the best in your purchase

There are lots of opposing views on Chinese Drywall.
Most of them do have very valid points, including history, places, causes and effects.
Some do offer grants, tax deductions and even financial relief.
Considering that you are already buying the apt. for a pittance and full disclosure was made to you before purchasing, I am not sure of how much of a legal recourse you may have in the future.
But, if you purchased the property, the land cost alone should be more than the purchased price.
This is still a bargain.
Keep in mind that you may have to repair your electrical, plumbing and extensive cleaning up after the removal of the drywall.
This will be a thorough and special cleaning.
It seems like the average company charges USD32 per square footage.
I am not sure how much of the "problem" is real and how much of it is just plain doing business in USA as the Chinese drywall is in direct competition with USA made drywall...
I have been in China on numerous occasions and have stayed with locals for months at a time and I have yet to develop a symptom directly relatee to Chinese drywall.
Your ceiling supposedly could also be infected.

IF YOU WANT TO TAKE YOUR CHANCE GO HEAD. IN MY OPPINION IT'S NOT A GOOD IDEA UNLESS YOU CAN AFFORD TO REPLACE THE DRYWALL IN THE ENTIRE HOUSE.
I'M AN ELECTRICIAN, I'VE BEEN IN CONSTRUCTION FOR A WHILE.
STAY AWAY FROM ANY HOUSE THAT HAS CHINESE DRYWALL.
