I am a real estate agent in south jersey and most of the haitians I meet after they have bought a house through someone else have been taken advantage off somehow.
We need to have haitian homebuyer seminars, financial seminars to educate our people so they know the right question to ask and how to take advantage of the many different programs available to them when they are buying a property.
It might sound silly to say that most people get their information from other people who have no clue what they are talking about.
Find an expert you trust and ask as many questions as you can; make a list of questions before you call or meet with the expert.
The more you know the better off you are. We Haitians are proud people, we would rather let someone take advantage of us than ask questions and show our ignorance.
